China is divided into provinces as its first level of administrative government. Provinces are divided into prefectures as its second level of administrative government. Prefectures are further divided into counties as third level. Counties are further subdivided into township. Township are further subdivided into villages as its fifth level of administrative division.

Provinces of the Philippines are typically divided into municipalities, which are further divided into barangays. Here is a brief explanation of each level of division:

• Province: The highest level of division in the Philippines, provinces are governed by a governor and vice-governor, and have their own elected officials such as board members and mayors.

• Municipality: Provinces are divided into municipalities, each of which is governed by a mayor and a vice-mayor, as well as a council of elected officials.

The Philippines is divided into 17 regions. The traditional island groups of Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao are composed of eight (Regions I, II, III, IV-A, and V, and CAR, NCR, and MIMAROPA), three (VI, VII, and VIII), and six (IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, and BARMM) regions, respectively.
